The needs of most school aged children/youth can be met through regular attendance in local schools. There are, however, conditions where a child's or youth's social and/or medical needs dictate admission to a care or treatment program. In these situations when children are placed in a custodial or correctional facility, special arrangements are required to address the educational needs.

With the support of Confederation College, School-College-Work Initiative (SCWI) and the home school (St. Ignatius or St. Patrick), students can take advantage of a unique opportunity without the normal costs of a college education.

The Dilico Day Treatment Centre provides children's mental health services for Native students who have difficulty functioning in a regular school setting because of social, emotional and/or behavioural concerns. The Day Treatment Centre strives through all available resources for an atmosphere that is comfortable, appropriate and respectful to the cultures that may represent its clientele.

J.J. Kelso Centre

J.J. Kelso Centre is a residential closed custody facility operated by W.W. Creighton Youth Services for young females between 12 and 17 years who have been in conflict with the law. J.J Kelso Centre can service up to 18 high-risk young offenders. A youth may be sentenced for up to five years and she may not attend a community school.

Jack McGuire Centre is a residential open custody and detention facility operated by W.W. Creighton Youth Services for young people between the ages of 12 and 17 who are in conflict with the law. The school program is a mandatory one, providing the education needed for up to seven students.

It enables students to gain sector-specific skills and knowledge in career-related learning environments and helps them focus on graduation and on pursuing their post-secondary goals.

The Smith Clinic offer Youth Services - a client centred provincial resource, providing a variety of services to children, adolescents and significant others. Youth Services works with the community in facilitating prevention and education programs. This voluntary program provides a five week intensive treatment for youth experiencing substance abuse programs.
